Ad in West Hawaii Today for Art Reception & Book Signing

Please stop into my reception at Lavender Moon Gallery in Kainaliu this Saturday from 2PM-7PM. I’ll be signing copies of my new book, “Pink Elephants and Chocolate Éclairs, Memoir of a Border Town Chica (girl),” and displaying a number of my most recent colorful abstract paintings.

Lavender Moon Gallery, in Kainaliu, invites the public to share in an artist reception and book signing for Big Island artist, writer, and gallery owner, Patricia Missler. The event will be held 2 to 7 p.m. April 12 at Lavender Moon Gallery.

This is a debut show for Missler, who has been a successful painter for many years. On display is a delightful collection of small still life paintings of fruits and vegetables from her garden. These fun, miniature oil paintings are complimented with her more serious and sophisticated large abstract work. Missler’s abstracts are captivating tapestries of color and texture with great depth and intensity. The complexity of color in Missler’s abstract work has been likened to the paintings of well-known German artist Gerhard Richter.

Missler will also be signing and personalizing her recently released book, “Pink Elephants and Chocolate Éclairs, Memoir of a Border Town Chica (girl).” The collection of poignant short stories from her childhood has been met with rave reviews. KIRKUS Reviews said, “Poised, polished remembrances. In her memoir debut, Missler takes readers on a leisurely stroll through her life as a first-generation Mexican-American. Missler’s graceful, balanced telling of key moments from her life unfurls beautifully.”

One of Missler’s dynamic abstract paintings was used as the book jacket design.
