Such a good cause…please read on…

Almost seventeen years ago, Frank Sayre (who had been my dedicated and incredible dentist for almost as long as I’d lived in Hawaii) and Laura Sayre (his wife), lost their son Daniel in a hiking accident in Hawaii.  However, because our rescue personnel did not have the proper equipment to make the rescue easier, it took the rescue firemen ten hours and perilous efforts to recover Daniel’s body.  Because of the firemen’s dedication beyond the call of duty on that day, so long ago, the Sayres were inspired to begin a foundation in honor of their son.  They named it The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation and have worked tirelessly to raise funds each year with a gala fundraiser to purchase necessary equipment for rescue efforts that the firemen would otherwise not have.  It is a great cause and if you are visiting the island anytime soon, please attend the fundraiser event on August 30th at 4:30pm at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel.  You can go directly to the website or email for further information to info@DanielSayreFoundation.com.  I, along with other artists and local businesses donate items for auction.

The painting above is the one I have donated for auction, entitled “Flemings Beach, Solitary Ocean in Silver and Gold”.
